71.429% of The Time

How often have you wanted to start something new?
A hobby, a blog, maybe a whacky activity? But you haven’t started because you’re not good at it?

Maybe, like me, you want to start a video series, but don’t really know how.

This is what I wrote in my journal this morning:

“It’s like the gym, just because you go every day for a month doesn’t mean you’ll stay fit forever. You have to keep going. You have to put in the work.
Regularly. Most days. 5 days out of 7.
71.429% of the time.
5 days out of 7 for fitness, work, eating well, creativity and self care.”

In between writing that I grabbed my calculator, and worked out the percentage of 5 to 7……

I came to the conclusion that working consistently 5 days a week, 71.429% of the time, will likely give results. When we do that, it becomes a habit, then we become good at it.

There are many things I’d like to do in my life.
The things I think about the most is writing blogs and making videos. I’m not sure what draws me to that – perhaps it’s a way for me to be creative and make sense of the world.

Both of these things happen sporadically. I fit them in when I have time, in between work and ‘everyday’ life, but I get frustrated that I don’t have enough free time to do them regularly.

I’m not showing up to the things I want to do 71.429% of the time.
I show up to work, eat well, workout and take care of myself in that percentage and get good results.

Now to use that method for the other things I want to achieve.
