Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer Activity Weekend

Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to Wales by the Outdoor Bloggers group for an activity weekend at Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer.

After a monster 6.5 hour drive, I was welcomed by a wonderful group of smiling strangers and a steaming plate of vegetarian curry and rice.

Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer re-opened after a massive refurbishment on 1st July 2015,  and now welcomes schools, corporate team building days, stag and hen parties and groups of adventurous adults like us.

Sadly, I couldn’t get to the meet up on the Friday during the day, when the guys went rock climbing and abseiling.

On Saturday, after a fantastic nights sleep in the biggest bed ever, we started our full day of activities with gorge walking.  I’d never done it before and felt strangely nervous, mainly because of the cold and the crazy strong water but leaders Mike, Owen and Tony were fantastic, as were the wetsuits!

After a delicious buffet lunch, it was time for stand up paddle boarding, a sport I’m growing to love.

Mike, the Centre Manager’s vision is to spread the passion for outdoor activities and his passion shines through so much.  Together with Owen, the Activity Manager, they have 22 years combined experience in the outdoor, leisure and tourism industry so we were in expert hands the entire weekend.

With climbing, abseiling, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, caving, hiking, archery, bushcraft, orienterring, raft building, stand up paddle boarding, mountain biking, fit camps, raft building, a zip wire coming soon and a variety of accommodation to suit all, I am left wanting more!

Until next time Dolygaer. I can’t wait to come back!
