Book Club 2017

02/02/17
Today is World Book Day and I just caught up with my friend Cat Meffan’s latest blog post about ‘What Books Should You Be Reading?’
As I haven’t written a blog for a while, I came over all inspired, ran upstairs and grabbed the books that sit next to my bed to show you what I am currently reading.

As you can see, I’m a non-fiction girl selecting autobiographies and books based around self-development, health and fitness, education and business.  I very rarely read fiction as I can’t seem to get lost in the story, with my thirst for learning always getting the better of me.

Books mean so much to me at the moment as my life is full targets, time frames, training, fundraising and work.
Learning how to tie a new knot, injury proofing my body or reading the success story of a business or sports person provides me with just the right amount of escapism and relaxation at the end of a busy day.
Just recently I have been putting 30 minutes aside 2-3 times a week for reading in the evening, in order to de-stress and unwind.

I love a good old fashioned dog-eared paperback book, buying a lot of them used from Amazon. Clutching a yellow highlighter, I’ll work my way through, highlighting the best bits so I can refer back to them at a later date.

I also love an audiobook as I spend quite a bit of time driving to see clients and sponsors.
As one of my favourite authors, Brian Tracy recommends in The New Psychology of Achievement, I do not listen to the radio or music, instead of spending the time educating myself with self-development books.

Here are the audiobooks I am currently listening to:

I can have several books on the go at one time, it just depends on what mood I’m in.  I could read or listen to all these over and over again and never get bored.

Happy World Book Day xxxxx

What books are you reading or listening too and making a difference to the way you live your life? I’d love to hear. Head over to Twitter and let me know.
