Rowing 3,000 Miles Across The Atlantic Ocean

In 2018 I rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain to the Carribean.

The journey took 43 days, rowing non-stop throughout the day and night in 2-hour shifts. My team and I never got more than 1.5 hours to sleep at a time.

We took part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge along with 28 other boats.  We pushed hard and placed 10th overall, being the first female team across the finish line.

Our boat Liberty was just 8.6m by 1.5m.
We encountered waves a big as houses, extreme heat, dehydration, hunger, sleep deprivation, hallucinations and physical and mental exhaustion.

We rowed for 13 hours a day, ate dehydrated food, consumed 5,000 calories a day, pooped in a bucket and were exposed to everything Mother nature had to throw at us.

It was the most exhausting thing I have ever done in my life!
It was the also most exhilarating thing I have ever done in my life!

Why did I do it?
It all started with a random phone call one Sunday in April 2015, which lead to a group of us deciding we wanted to row across the Atlantic (even though I didn’t know where the Atlantic was! Yep, I totally just admitted that.)

That original team didn’t work out but the idea of crossing an ocean in a rowing boat stuck in my head.

After rowing around Great Britain in 2017, the desire to row across the Atlantic was even greater, so I put a video on social media saying I wanted to do it.
A team of 3 strong women called Row For The Ocean saw the video and asked if I wanted to join their team. I said yes immediately!
8 months later we left on a journey of a lifetime.

I also got quite excited on Instagram and posted a few pictures and videos over there too 😉
